I thought I was bound for law enforcement, but when I enlisted in the Air Force, I put down firefighter for a job instead of LE.

Almost 40 years later, I retired from the fire service. Five of those years were in the active military and reserve as well as civilian reserve/volunteer FD work with two different cities.

During some of that time I was also working in the fire department of a large aircraft manufacturer. There we did it all. ARFF, structural, EMS, confined space, hazmat, water rescue, and we even had a team that was trained for crew rescue from a space capsule. I’ve been blessed to see and do some amazing things in this job, but the best part of this career were the crews I worked with. They are the one thing I miss the most.
