Yes. Our decals are designed for exterior use and will hold up in outdoor conditions including rain, sun, and temperature swings. They're a great fit for vehicle windows, fire helmets, gear lockers, and any smooth exterior surface. For longest life, apply to a clean, dry surface and avoid placing over curved or textured areas where the edges may lift.

Our decals work well on any smooth, clean exterior surface. Popular placements include fire helmets, car and truck windows (exterior), bumpers and vehicle body panels, tool boxes, lockers, and water bottles or hard cases.

Note: Decals are designed for exterior window or hard-surface application. We don't recommend applying them to fabric or heavily textured surfaces.

The 2×2 inch (set of 3) is the go-to for fire helmets — it fits most front shield panels and side positions without overlapping edges. If you're covering a larger shield area or front shield plate, the 4×4 inch works well too. We recommend measuring your target placement area before ordering, especially for custom rank decals where the text scale matters.

On any custom rank decal product page, you'll find a text field where you enter your personalization — your rank, name, or department designation. This field accepts up to 15 characters including spaces. Once you've entered your text and selected your size, add to cart and proceed to checkout. We'll print your decal exactly as entered, so please double-check your spelling before submitting — custom orders cannot be edited after they're placed.

Tip: Use all caps for rank text — it matches how department designations typically read on apparatus and helmets.

Yes — some sizes like the 2×2 inch are already sold in multi-packs. For larger department orders beyond what's listed on the product page, contact us directly and we'll work out the best option for your team.

Processing times depend on the type of decal:

• Stock decals (city, department, state designs): 5–7 business days to process, then standard shipping transit time.
• Custom rank decals: 5–10 business days to process before shipping.

You'll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking once your order leaves our facility. Business days are Monday–Friday, excluding holidays.

For best results, follow these steps:

1. Clean the surface thoroughly with a mild cleaner and let it dry completely.
2. Peel the backing paper away from the decal slowly and at a low angle.
3. Position carefully — once the adhesive makes contact, repositioning is difficult.
4. Press firmly from the center outward, smoothing out any air bubbles as you go.
5. If your decal has a transfer tape top layer, peel it back slowly at a low angle once the decal is set.

Cold weather tip: If applying in cold temperatures, warm the surface slightly with a heat gun or hair dryer on low — the adhesive works best above 50°F.

Custom and personalized decals are made to order and cannot be returned or exchanged unless there's a defect or error on our end. Please double-check your custom text and size selection before placing your order. Stock decals (non-custom) may be eligible for return in unused, original condition — contact us within 30 days of delivery.
